Being a Learner- Rainbow Science

This week we did a rainbow experiment using skittles and water. In pairs the children were able to arrange their skittles however they decided within their bowl. They then tipped water into the bowl. They observed as the rainbow appeared!

Being a Learner-Science

This afternoon we did a science experiment. Our Inquiry topic this term is chemical change.
In small groups the children did the “ice-cream in a bag experiment”.

They combined in a small snap lock bag.
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup cream
1/4 tsp vanilla
4tsp of sugar

This bag was then put into a larger snap lock bag with:
2 cups of ice
3/4 cup of rock salt

The children then had to shake the bag until the ice cream froze. They then took out the little and ate straight from the bag, some very happy children!

We discussed how the salt decreases the temperature of the ice, which helps the milk mixture to freeze.

Being Respectful- Visiting the Library

We enjoyed spending time in the Library this afternoon. We read a funny story called 'I need a pee-pee', which caused a few giggles!!

We talked about how to show Respect in the Library, then practised these skills independently.

A lovely way to spend a Monday afternoon.
